Program Format

Program Development

The program is being developed in two stages: first through an open call for session proposals and secondly through a call for abstracts.

Proponents of thematic sessions are encouraged to submit them through the on-line form on the Call for Sessions page. Deadline is January 10, 2012. Full instructions are available with the submission form.

The call for abstracts will be made in February 2012, once the sessions are finalized.

Program inquiries should be directed to the program chairs Stephanie Chang, or Laurie Pearce.
CRHNet annual symposium programs consist of three days of talks, posters, demonstrations and organizational exhibits. The morning plenary session hosts a keynote speaker on a topic of national and international importance in disaster risk reduction.

Following the morning refreshment break, three to four concurrent thematic and general sessions provide avenues for talks, discussions or posters. These concurrent sessions continue into the afternoon. Plenary poster viewing times in late afternoon are hosted with receptions, and the exhibits.

Workshops are encouraged, and should be held prior to, or after, the three day program. Assistance with arranging these can be found from the Program and Organizing committees.

The CRHNet annual symposium in 2012 will again be preceded by the annual roundtable of the Canadian Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction and the annual meeting of the Senior Officials Responsible for Emergency Management (SOREM).
